New mini-cake for weight control
11 April 2012To control their weight, consumers want to keep a “normal” food pattern and are not ready to sacrifice taste and pleasure. They actively look for foods that are both healthy and tasty.
Several strategies are possible: exclude “negative” nutrients such as fat and sugar, consume more satiating products, and limit portion size.
To control weight, protein and fibre have a clear role to play.
Proteins have a lower caloric value than fat, are more satiating and allow the body to burn more calories compared to similar intakes of fat or carbohydrate, do not generate insulin release and help to maintain lean body mass during weight loss.
Fibres are commonly used in weight management products for their low caloric value and the ability to replace sugar and/or fat, for fibre enrichment and for their satiating power.
To illustrate the possibilities of our ingredients in weight control products, we have developed a delicious high protein high fibre chocolate cake with Pisane® pea protein isolate and Fibrulose® liquid oligofructose. This mini-cake has a very nice soft texture and excellent taste.
